The Farm La Fontursia winery is found just a short distance away from the historic town of Ripatransone, one of the oldest and most characteristic settlements in Piceno, packed with historic memories and echoes of mediaeval times.
The name – La Fontursia – derives from the ancient Etruscans, a population established in a district near a spring with legendary beneficial properties, known at the time as “Fonte dei Tusci”, which gave the district its name of La Fontursia.
The winery enjoys a wonderful location, between the Sibillini mountains and the Adriatic sea, just three kilometres as the crow flies.
The hilly landscape and the sea breezes guarantee a cool, temperate climate and with the fertile, gravel soil rich in minerals, creates the perfect pedoclimate for growing grapes.
Surrounded by woods, this is the ideal place to grow native varieties used to make cellarable, well-structured wines.
The members of the Veccia family have been winegrowers for generations. For around the last thirty years they have been using new technology and implementing organic cultivation and production methods.
Its location makes the winery easily accessible by motorway, taking the Pedaso or Grottammare exit, and by plane thanks to the nearby airports of Ancona-Falconara to the north and Pescara to the south.
